This was the easiest little sauce to throw together. I had just made my Garlic Aioli & was trying to decided if I should toss that on my fish tacos….and then Chipotle popped into mind – so kinda played with the aioli to change it up a bit for these tacos.
The fish tacos you see pictured are with from SizzleFish cod which is where I get my seafood now. They have special packs that are already labeled “Paleo” and even have Endurance Packages for those who want to make sure they are getting the proper nutrients for their workouts.
All that being said, one of the things I love most about having seafood, is using a sauce that compliments the fish. I used to LOVE the Filet O’Fish & tartar sauce from McDonalds…….I know…..weird, hu? And when I would order fish tacos out somewhere, I would only order if they offered some kind of a cream sauce and usually had to have some kind of a kick to it. Sadly when you’re out, it’s hard to know what the exact ingredients of their sauces are and if not made in house, the servers usually don’t know either. I take my chances some of the time, especially if it’s in a nicer restaurant.
So here you go! A ‘Chipotle Lime Sauce’ to make at home and you’ll know the exact ingredients that you’ll be tossing on your food 🙂
- 2 tbsp garlic aioli
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp light flavored olive oil
- 2 tbsp chipotle seasoning
- 1/2 tbsp cumin
- 1/2 tbsp cayenne pepper
- 1 - 3 tbsp's water
- Combine all ingredients and blend/mix with an immersion blender (adding 1 tbsp water at a time for desired consistency)
- If you don't have an immersion blender, whisking works just fine!
