One of the things I have grown to love is iced coffee and this Mocha Protein Shake is no exception! I used to very much dislike iced coffee and to be honest, still not quite a fan of mocha flavored ice cream but this summer, the iced coffees were always on my radar!
My daughter and I ate at one of our favorites spots in Hermosa Beach called The Source Cafe – and guys, if you’re in the area, you must check it out! There are so many paleo, vegetarian and even keto options for food and drinks. I’m sure if you follow me on Insta, you’ve seen my favorite Paleo Chicken Pesto Panini posted many times from The Source Cafe ….and it’s really hard to try other items there because this sandwich is so good – you don’t want to not get it! But one day, we decided on trying one of their shakes. And I don’t even remember what it was called but we tried to make note of it and recreate at home. Their version does come with or without coffee and we both opted to get without but when I decided to recreate it, I added coffee and this Mocha Protein Shake was born.
It’s filling and though I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a meal, you probably won’t be hungry for quite a while after drinking this Mocha Protein Shake. I use Primal Kitchen Foods Collagen Fuel so you can feel good about getting that extra dose of goodness into your system. It’s such a perfect treat for a hot day or warm evening ….or if you’re one of ‘those’ who prefers cold drinks, even in the winter!
Personally I prefer hot drinks in the winter and I actually grabbed a hot Americano when out with my girls the other day because the mall was freezing! And omg, I truly do prefer the warm over cold drinks. I am really looking forward to bundling up with a hot beverage since it’s been such a crazy hot summer this year. If you’re like me – then here’s a drink for you! It’s a Peppermint Hot Chocolate but you can always omit the peppermint if you’re not fond of it – and you can add coffee to it as well ….just give it all a whirl in your blender!
Ok …but we’ve still got a couple of months of warmth, don’t we? I mean, it seems like I’m still in summer wear when Halloween rolls around! So go ahead and give this Mocha Protein Shake a try and keep it in rotation for the next few months ….or more!
- 1 cup cup cold brew or cold coffee
- 1 cup cashew milk
- 2 tbsp cashew butter
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 scoop Primal Kitchen Foods Vanilla or Chocolate Collagen Fuel
- 2 dates
- 1 1/2 cups crushed ice (or pour over ice)*
- Blend in blender!
- Pour in your favorite glass!
- *This can be blended for a more smoothie type drink or poured over ice.
