Is paleo a thing of the past? I’ve heard people talk about it like it was/is a fad diet. I have heard the same with keto and likes. Well, yes ….paleo is a thing of the ‘past’. It’s a term used for paleoethic times and this type of “diet” refers back to that time, in terms of what foods were consumed. While paleo was talked about much more 7-8 years ago, I still adopt to that particular style of eating because it makes me feel best. And this is the reason is still bake paleo goods, such as these Paleo Banana Raspberry Muffins.
I won’t get into the paleo diet per se, but I will say that a lot of people tried eating in this fashion because it really is about eating real foods. For me, I didn’t switch to paleo because I wanted to lose weight, I ditched foods that didn’t make me feel well and were inflammatory. And this my friend, is why I still stick to a pretty “strict” paleo lifestyle.
There may be times that I dabble with a bit of dairy but I try and make sure it’s sourced properly. There may be times that I grab a gluten free pizza as well. I just try to make the best choices possible if I “stray” from the absolutes of paleo. Some choose to add in other foods that were once inflammatory but don’t affect them anymore because they’ve healed their gut. We all have different stories and we go from there.
Paleo Baking
So! I bring this up because when it comes to baking, I still make paleo treats. I see no reason to go back to other ingredients that didn’t make me feel good, when these treats are equally as delicious. These Paleo Banana Raspberry Muffins are exactly why I see no need to get back into traditional flours and/or sugars. I love a warm muffin with a cup of coffee and these fit the bill.
If you’re like me and love weekends with a cup of coffee and muffin, I love these Paleo Hummingbird Muffins and I think you will too! They are amazzzzing!
The thing is, it doesn’t matter what your diet lifestyle of choice is. If an option that has fewer ingredients to cause inflammation & is just as good, why not go for that? We need our bodies to try on fighting off the bigger picture. Making things like these Paleo Banana Raspberry Muffins doesn’t mean it’s a healthy treat but it is a healthier option. And they are freakin’ delicious!
These muffins are super simple to make and taste great warmed or right out of the fridge. (Tip: Store in fridge in an airtight container with a paper towel laid on top of muffins. This will help condensation from soaking the muffins.) I hope you love them as much as I do!
