Time flies when you’re having fun! I made these little patties in early November and completely forgot to post them here! Looking back, I remember that I was craving meatloaf but wasn’t ready to wait for a loaf to cook up. I opted to take an easy way out and that’s how these Pan Fried Meat “Loaf” Patties came about.
Pan Fried Meat “Loaf” Patties
If you like meatloaf in general, you will like these! These patties can be cooked in a fraction of time, so they are well received in our home. Another thing I like about these Pan Fried Meat “Loaf” Patties, is that there is a little bit of a char on the other part of the patty. It really takes the flavor up a notch. However, if that doesn’t appeal to you ….simply keep the flame low and keep an eye on turning the patty over sooner.
Perfect to Prep Ahead
When making these, consider doubling the recipe and prepare some for the week. They store good in the fridge and are an easy warm, for another meal. For dinner I serve with a veggie or 2. When I grab one for lunch, I lay on a bed of arugula or even between paleo bread or cauliflower thins! Either way, it’s a great time to prep ahead with these Pan Fried Meat “Loaf” Patties!
Would you like another recipe with individual meat “loaves”? What about making these Individual Meatloaf Cups ? These meatloaf cups are made in a muffin tin which make it simple and fuss free! What I like about this recipe, is that you can make it all up – stick it in the oven and forget about it for 30 minutes! It’s a wee bit less time than an actual meatloaf and it allows for individual portions. Is it just me? Do you like having individual “personally portioned” pieces or just want to take a slice off the loaf? I appreciate having my food portioned out. BUT …if you’re a “I need the actual loaf, kind of person” – here ya go! This Mediterranean Meatloaf is amazingly good! There’s a twist with a few different flavors but they won’t disappoint!
Well, here you go! Give these Pan Fried Meat “Loaf” Patties a try and let me know what you think!
Pan Fried Meat “Loaf” Patties
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1/4 cup diced onions
- 1/8 cup spicy ketchup (or reg or tomato paste)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1/2 tsp Meat & Potato Seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ketchup, seasonings and onions. Whisk the egg and incorporate with the meat mixture.
- Heat a non-stick pan (I use my cast iron) with medium flame.
- Make 8 patties (like you’re making hamburgers) with your hands. Place patties into pan – you may have to do this in shifts – and let it cook about 5-7 min on one side. Carefully flip and cook another 7-8 minutes.
- Let them sit to rest. Serve with roasted or mashed cauliflower.
- Make a gravy to top it off or drizzle more of the spicy ketchup in top!
