If you’re reading this when written, Thanksgiving is right around the corner. In fact, one week from today – I’ll be in my kitchen finishing up what we’ll be taking along for our Thanksgiving feast later in the day. These ‘Ranch Mashed Sweet Potatoes w/Bacon’ will be on my list for sure and will have already been prepped the day before. They are a perfect prep ahead dish so it’ll free up time on Thanksgiving day!
Let’s back up a minute and ask a question….
— who loves ranch dressing?? (ME!) Ok, so I am one of those peeps who loves to drizzle ordip into ranch on pretty much everything. Here’s the thing though …..once I gave up dairy and other not-so-nice ingredients, I wasn’t able to use my favorite condiment like I’d been able to. In fact, it became upsetting to my system when I would dabble with ranch dressing when eating hot wings so I definitely steer clear of it at this point in my life. UNTIL NOW –> Primal Kitchen Foods has a delicious Ranch Dressing in their product line and all ingredients are a-o-k! Here’s a look at what’s in their Ranch.
Avocado Oil, Water, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic Distilled Vinegar, Organic Gum Acacia, Organic Guar Gum, Cream of Tartar, Sea Salt, Organic Eggs, Organic Onion Powder, Organic Garlic Powder, Organic Lemon Juice Concentrate*, Nutritional Yeast, Organic Parsley, Organic Chives, Organic Dill, Organic Black Pepper, Organic Rosemary Extract. Contains eggs *Adds a negligible amount of sugar. Not a low-calorie food.
I have tried to make my own version of ranch dressing and though it was “good enough”, Primal Kitchen’s is so much better AND so much more convenient! It made making the ‘Ranch Mashed Sweet Potatoes w/Bacon’ a cinch to make!
Okay – here’s another question! Who shops at Costco?? Welp ….this Ranch Dressing is now at select Costco Stores in a double pack! And while we’re on the subject, their large Paleo Mayo is also in select Costco Stores so you can grab them both while there! You can click HERE to find out if there’s a store near you carrying these amazing products!
While I’m sure you have your favorite go-to’s for Thanksgiving, I think switching things up from time to time keeps your guests “Ooooohing and Awwwwwing”! We actually head over to my sister in laws house so this recipe will be in tow with a couple of others that I take along to ensure that I’ll have some good eats without giving into some of the foods that might otherwise make me feel badly. My daughter is now full blown paleo, if you will and is really trying to make the healthiest choices possible so this recipe will not only be delicious but help her stay true to her health goals. And I’m not gonna lie – it’s always nice to share healthier versions of recipes and have friends/family be impressed with how good, real food is! It doesn’t have to be doused with ingredients that will mess with our health and/or make us feel badly!
Do YOU!
Note: If you like to just indulge in all of your traditional foods on Thanksgiving, that aren’t paleo and/or whatever your “diet of choice” is – then have at it! No judgement here. I simply share for those who don’t want to veer but I’m all for the experience of the time being spent with family and friends so please understand that the recipes I share to help holidays remain healthy, are for those who want to stick with their health goals/needs but not at all meant to judge who put these goals to the side for the day!
Onto the Ranch Mashed Sweet Potatoes w/Bacon recipe! As mentioned earlier, it’s a perfect prep ahead meal but you can even take it a step further and prep the sweet potatoes in advance. Cook them up a couple of days before and then you’re ready to just whip up all the ingredients on the spot. The family loved the addition of the Ranch Dressing. It was just a little flavor twist on the sweet potato without having to add in several other ingredients. LOVE the ease of dressing amping up a recipe!
Enjoy the recipe and the holiday!
